10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Chris Hero

8. Weight Has Never Been A Factor

Hero’s initial WWE departure came in November 2013, and while he’s always spoken favourably of his time in NXT, his release drew a lot of speculation. The most commonly held idea is that Hero was let go for his inability to control his weight, a lazy work ethic, and regularly skipping workouts.

This argument gained credence from his post-WWE weight gain, but the argument has since been squashed by the man himself. Hero, in a 2015 Reddit AMA, stated that his weight typically fluctuated close to 220lbs while in WWE, and that he was at 197lbs at his lowest point with the company.

Hero calls the rumour “absurd,” and invites anyone who supports it to watch his last few NXT matches against Luke Harper, Rusev, and Tyler Breeze. The above image shows Hero wrestling in one of those matches, and while his physique isn’t exactly chiselled, it’d be a real stretch to call the guy “overweight” in 2013.

Only the company and Hero himself will ever truly know why he was released in the front place, but given that he’s coming back to WWE heavier than ever, weight clearly wasn’t an issue.
