10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Chris Hero
7. Friends In High Places
From General Managers Daniel Bryan and William Regal to wrestlers like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Samoa Joe, Hero is among friends in WWE. As a cornerstone of the American indie circuit, Hero has worked directly with a huge portion of WWE’s active roster, and that’s without taking his former NXT cohorts into account. Few men or women will be as well-connected as Hero when he walks back through the door, which should put him in great steading.
Most significant of all, however, is his relationship with current Raw superstar Cesaro. The duo became familiar with each other after crossing paths on the independent circuit, and in 2005, they formed the “Kings of Wrestling” tag team.
The Kings were a huge hit on the country’s smaller stages, and scooped-up Tag Team Title reigns in Ring of Honor, Chikara, and Combat Zone Wrestling. They eventually split in 2007, but that wasn’t the end of their run, and they reunited in 2009 all the way through to Cesaro’s WWE signing in 2011..
KOW left a legacy as one of the most important independent tag teams of all-time, and the duo remain great friends to this date. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever see a full-on reunion for as long as Cesaro is teaming with Sheamus, but we can only hope.
