After being used mostly as a jobber in his early TNA days, Young was soon transitioned to a more prominent role as part of the Team Canada stable.

The team of Young, Petey Williams, Johnny Devine and Bobby Roode took part in the 2004 World X Cup, finishing second overall behind Team TNA (shocking), which was comprised of Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin and that man Elix Skipper.

Team Canada itself was only supposed to be a one-shot deal, but the group garnered so much heat in the tournament that the decision was made to bring them in full-time. Interestingly enough, Roode and Young were never intended to be a part of the original team.

The first incarnation of Team Canada was to include Williams and Devine, but Jack Evans and Teddy Hart were to round it out. Teddy Hart was intended to be the captain of the side, but for reasons that aren't clear (although one can assume that Teddy Hart in 2004 was enough of a reason), Hart and Evans were removed and replaced by Young and Roode.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
