10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Jay White

9. His Finger Isn't What It Used To Be

I'll cut right to the chase; Jay White once crushed the middle finger on his right hand and had to have the thing reattached. 'Switchblade' might be known for an occasionally slavish commitment to cowardly heel tactics, but doubt the Kiwi's toughness at your peril.

The accident happened while White was in professional limbo, unsure of his next step in life and doing construction work to fill the void. Construction is no joke, heavy machinery isn't built with the fragility of human skin and bone in mind, and it is somewhat surprising that serious accidents aren't more common. White's misfortune came from his finger being caught between an almost literal rock and a hard place, although a crane and concrete would be a little more accurate.

The top part of Jay's middle finger was crushed, in short, but there was just enough blood and sentience in the digit to allow a surgeon to reattach the thing. A few months of finger rehab (an actual thing) later and his digit was as good as new, albeit unable to be fully straightened. Never doubt the toughness of Jay White.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
