10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Jushin Liger

5. He Had Genuine Classics In WCW

Jushin Liger might not have wrestled for WWE before, but he's had many matches for their old rival, WCW. Liger began wrestling for WCW in late 1991 and had a very entertaining series with Brian Pillman over the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship. Their match at Superbrawl 1992 is considered one of the best in the company's history as well as one of the best opening matches in wrestling history, too. Although the rest of Liger's first stay in the company saw him having so-so matches and teaming with the likes of Erik Watts, he would be given a further chance to shine in a few years' time. Liger returned to WCW in 1995, as part of a talent trading agreement the company had with New Japan. He holds the distinction of appearing on the very first Nitro match, a loss to Brian Pillman. After that, Liger made intermittent appearances, having some fantastic PPV matches against Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio at Starrcade's 1995 and 96, respectively.
