4. He Also Had To Put Up With WCW Stupidity
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyflq_jushin-liger-vs-juventud-guerrera_sport Of course, Liger's WCW run wasn't all roses. The top brass couldn't just let Liger go out there and rock the house, which was getting him over without having involve him in storylines. Liger was at his best when given 15-20 minutes and an opponent who could keep up with him. Of course Vince Russo, who has no interest in actual wrestling, had different plans for Liger when he made a couple of brief appearances in November 1999. On the November 29th episode of Nitro, the genius Russo booked Liger to lose the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title to Juventud Guerrera in five minutes. Worse still, Liger was to be beaten after being hit with a tequila bottle to the head. This caused New Japan, who take their titles seriously and rarely, if ever book finishers using weapons and the like, a great deal of embarrassment. The Japanese wrestling press didn't report on the change and New Japan refused to acknowledge its existence until 2007. Liger did win the title back on the next week's show, pinning Psicosis (who was subbing for an injured Juventud) but, by that point, the damage had been done.
