4. Comparison To The Rock
During a telephone conference call with Eli Drake, the comparisons between him and The Rock were drawn upon. When Sportskeeda compared the two wrestler’s promo skills, Drake was ambivalent, but took it as a compliment.
Never one to miss a chance to cut a heelish promo, he corrected the interviewer that he is “actually the best mic man in the industry today”. He let his real appreciation show through when he elaborated:
“That is a great comparison actually, to be compared to the best mic worker of all time, can't argue with that, but sometimes it can be mistaken for imitation, so I have mixed emotions about it.”

In the same interview, he cited his wrestling inspirations as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair, saying he took “a little bit from all of those guys". Granted, while they are certainly big names to consciously situate next to your own, Drake has the talent, the charisma, and now has been presented with the missing ingredient – opportunity.
