10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Ruby Riot

2. Her Name Was Inspired By Punk Rock

One quick glance at Ruby Riot makes perfectly plain her punk rock credentials. The half-shaved hairstyle, copious tattoos, and the goth make-up scream 'punk' like a death metal singer, so it's no surprise that her ring-name is based around that obvious aspect of her personality.

The 'riot' part is self-explanatory, hinting at the performer's rebellious spirit and probable disregard for authority (at least until Stephanie McMahon inevitably puts her in her place). The 'Ruby' component is a little more obscure. It isn't named for the rocker's favourite gemstone, but rather derives from the Rancid song, 'Ruby Soho'. The lyrics might prove prescient - could Ruby Riot's name one day be the one headlining the marquee?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
