10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Scarlett Bordeaux

1. She’s Bringing Sexy Back

Scarlett Bordeaux
Impact Wrestling

They don’t call her the Perfect 10 without reason. Scarlett Bordeaux is one of the hottest women in professional wrestling and she isn’t afraid to let you know just how confident she is. Her gimmick has raised plenty of eyebrows across the wrestling world, but expecting Bordeaux to care about the detractors is a fool’s errand. Scarlett Bordeaux is better looking than you are; deal with it.

Those detractors haven’t been shy in their criticism though. When Scarlett arrived on Impact Wrestling with her Smoke Show gimmick, there were plenty of people lining up to say that her overly-sexed up character was taking women’s wrestling backwards, that having a gimmick so focused on looks was doing a disservice to the progress made in recent times. None of the detractors bothered to ask Scarlett what she thought about it though, and none of them seemed to take into account that, you know, pro wrestling needs a variety of characters, gimmicks and styles for it to be interesting.

Bordeaux has made no apologies for the hyper-sexualised nature of her gimmick. In a 2016 Impact conference call, she was asked about the then-burgeoning #metoo movement, and she said that she felt that many were looking past the performer and seeing only their own ideas of objectification, not wanting to see that it was Scarlett who chose the character, that it was Scarlett who chose the outfits and Scarlett who chose the attitude.

If you don’t want any sex appeal in your professional wrestling, you might want to change the channel when Scarlett Bordeaux appears, but if you’re interested in the immensely talented doing what they do better than most, then you’re in for a treat.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
