10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Taya Valkyrie
2. Lucha Underground Brought Her To America
It wasn't long after lifting her first Reina de Reinas Championship that the first season of Lucha Underground was announced, but much to Taya's dismay, she wasn't announced as being part of the roster. 'La Wera Loca' wasn't professionally fulfilled with just AAA's Women's Championship - she wanted to be part of this brand new adventure into the wrestling world.
All it took was persistence with those in charge, and Taya managed to get herself signed up for season two of the hit new show, being aligned with Jack Evans, PJ Black, and future lover Johnny Mundo, a faction known as Worldwide Underground. Despite being a regular fixture on the Californian show, Taya was actually still living in Mexico at the time.
It was a combination of working on Lucha Underground and finding her future husband that resulted in Taya moving to Los Angeles.
As well as finding herself a new home through LU, Taya also found herself with a much larger fanbase off the back of the promotion through her famous match vs. Brian Cage. However, that match only happened because Mundo believed he had broken his foot, resulting in Valkyrie taking his place against 'The Machine'. Little did they know at this time, that match would still be talked about to this very day.
