10 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About War Games

4. WWE Almost Used It To Rename Judgment Day

The last Judgement Day card took place in May, 2009. Since then, fans have watched as old event titles like No Mercy and Backlash have returned, but there's been no place for Judgment Day on the pay-per-view calendar. That's because it was almost outright replaced by WarGames by 2010.

In October '09, WWE officials sent out a survey polling fans on a new name for the May pay-per-view. WarGames was one of the options, albeit with the new title of WWE War Games. At one point, 'The Match Beyond' was also part of the branding, but that disappeared fairly quickly. Sadly, so did the entire idea.

WWE eventually went with Over The Limit for May, 2010. That continued in 2011 and 2012 before the promotion put Extreme Rules in the May slot for 2013. This year, it was Backlash, but there's no word on what event will occur in May, 2018.

Maybe it'll be WarGames, if the NXT version is a success.
