9. The Intercontinental And United States Titles Merged
There was a time in the distant past where titles other than the WWE/World Title mattered. Those days seem like ancient history now. For years, the secondary titles have been seen as mere props. There hasnt been a true feud over the Intercontinental or United States Title thats worth mentioning. It was fine to have both titles when Raw and Smackdown were separate shows with separate rosters. Now that everybody is merged into one, the United States Title has taken the form of the European Championship of the late 90s. Its unnecessary to have both, and therefore, the titles should be merged in 2015. If anything, it might place more importance on the Intercontinental Title, much like it did back in the late 80s and early 90s. If you were the Intercontinental Champion, chances are that youd be next in line to be WWE Champion. With only one secondary title, feuds like Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins would take more meaning if one of them were the Intercontinental Champion. The secondary titles need a lot of work to have the prestige built back up. Merging them into one will be the first step.
