There is an age-old belief in professional wrestling that the money is in the chase, and more often than not this is correct. This is especially true when it comes to WrestleMania - that show is defined by babyfaces finally defeating heels with championships on the line. The four title holders on SmackDown probably won’t all be holding the belts come ‘Mania, but the point still stands.

Going into the final quarter of 2017, SmackDown Live has heels holding all of its championships. Baron Corbin and The Usos picked up title wins at Hell in a Cell, ostensibly setting up new babyface challengers for the rest of the year. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin make sense as the next challengers for The Usos, with Tye Dillinger or even Bobby Roode next in line for Corbin.

The title changes allow SmackDown Live a chance to reset somewhat moving forward, after an immensely uninspiring summer period. It’s just a shame that the WWE Championship did not change hands later in the show.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
