AJ Styles winning the match and retaining the WWE Championship wasn’t a huge surprise, but it most definitely was the right move. AJ Styles is an absolute shoe-in for WWE 2016 Wrestler of the Year, and this match is another notch on his dauntingly impressive belt for the year. Styles on top simply guarantees great headlining matches.

The man is so good that you can put him against a whole host of potential opponents moving forward and the results will be great, not just from an in-ring standpoint but also regarding the standing of the competitors. The man even took a credible loss to James Ellsworth.

And a long run with the WWE Championship is hugely well-deserved for a man who has been one of the best wrestlers on the planet for an extremely long time. Many doubted he would ever get a shot in WWE, let alone a title reign, and in 2016 AJ Styles has showed the company what many fans have known for years. The man is simply phenomenal.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
