10 Things WWE Got Right At TLC 2016

3. AJ Styles Vs. Dean Ambrose

The main event was the match of the night, although with the calibre of the competitors sided with the gimmick this was always going to be the case. AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose put on a high-octane spot fest, and whilst Ambrose played his part this was AJ’s match. Some of the bumps the WWE Champion took in this bout further rammed home the thought that the a has a death wish.

Regardless of how you feel about the finish (more on that shortly), the action that preceded that ‘shocker’ was of an extremely high level, another great main event in a year of excellent top matches in WWE.

The bumps made sense, with both men doing all they could to try and put the other out of action long enough to climb the ladder. Ambrose continues to be a somewhat plodding presence, but when he’s up against someone of AJ’s talent this isn’t as much of a problem. Where he goes from here will be interesting to say the least.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
