10 Things WWE Got Right At TLC 2016

1. James Ellsworth Turns Heel

The James Ellsworth story is another that has come out of absolutely nowhere in 2016, and that story took another turn at TLC as the Chinless Wonder shocked many by costing Dean Ambrose the win and the WWE Championship. It is a fairly simple story to tell, albeit a story that can come from a number of different angles.

The simple fact is that Ellsworth isn’t long for the WWE, and as such the company need to wring every last drop of interest out of him before the worm turns. A heel Ellsworth should be quite fun too, and will surely be his final chapter before leaving the company in 2017.

So why did Ellsworth do it? The obvious story is that he couldn’t stand Ambrose’s patronising any longer, and decided to hurt the Lunatic Fringe where it hurts. The better story for me would be for Ellsworth to simply be in way over his head, with the attention giving him an inflated sense of ability and his reasoning being that he’s already beat Styles for the title, he can do it again. A completely delusional James Ellsworth might be entertaining.

Regardless of which way they go, turning him was the right move. TLC 2016 was another great show from the SmackDown Live crew, and the ball is now firmly in RAW’s court ahead of Roadblock later in the month.
