10 Things WWE Got Right At WrestleMania 33

5. An Altered Beast

Brock Lesnar Universal Champion

Just like AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon, Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg was far better than anyone could have anticipated. Sure, it was no wrestling clinic or tense exercise in ring psychology, but it was five minutes of suplexes and spears, with a pretty brutal-looking blast through the guard rail.

Even though the crowd expected Lesnar to win (and were thoroughly behind him all the way), Goldberg still had us believing he could pull off another win, at least until Brock kicked out of the Jackhammer.

It might have made a mockery of WWE’s own logic (Lesnar can withstand about five spears and survive, whereas everyone else crumbles at one), but it was short, punchy, dumb fun; a much-needed defibrillator after Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton sucked the air out of the Citrus Bowl.

Lesnar winning was absolutely the right call. Now hopefully the Universal Championship can start being attached to something resembling a proper wrestling match.
