10 Things WWE Got Right At WrestleMania 33
4. Dead Man Walking
Whether it’s his ‘End of an Era’ match against Triple H or the loss of his coveted streak at the hands of Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker has been an integral part of some of the most emotionally charged WrestleMania matches in history. His battle with Roman Reigns may just be the most heart-breaking of all.
While the match itself might have been sluggish and a little uncomfortable, at least in terms of in-ring action, this was the perfect way to say goodbye to arguably the most important professional wrestler of all time. To see The Deadman place his hat, coat and gloves in the ring was a moment like no other, and the stunned fans in the Citrus Bowl could only pay their respects as the Funeral March played.
As hyperbolic as it might sound, watching The Undertaker exit an industry he has been so critical in moulding is like the wrestling equivalent of losing a loved one. Taker got to go out the way he always wanted though, putting over another Superstar who will forever be known as ‘The Man Who Killed the Deadman.’
Roman Reigns is the most controversial figure in WWE, commentary exaggeration aside, just as Brock Lesnar was three years ago. Like him or loathe him, it’s hard not to be invested in what WWE has planned for Roman Reigns next.
