10 Things WWE Is Still Awesome At

2. Hooking

No promotion on Earth gets a pass like WWE - possibly because it's the most accessible. The English language version of New Japan World is so unintuitive that they might as well have not bothered changing it from Japanese.

That might also have something to do with the constant promise of something great, as opposed to the actual execution of greatness. The important thing is the aftermath. The mysteries dangled by WWE have greatly surpassed the reveals themselves. Jason Jordan, Big Cass' awful promos - all that hype was for nought, as things stand. But there's still time. That's WWE's saving grace.

If WWE was as bad as this author page is sometimes guilty of making out, it wouldn't be in the strong financial position it is. Battleground was the drizzling sh*ts, but it's all been forgotten. The anticipation of SummerSlam promises something great, and the historical brand value justifies the excitement. Even the most prestigious brands aren't bulletproof - look no further than Survivor Series for proof of that - but SummerSlam retains its powerful aura because it's consistently very good.

If it wasn't, WWE wouldn't be able to hook fans into relishing it. That it can, so soon after the dismal spring experimentation season, proves the company is doing something right.
