Wrestling and comic books have a lot in common with each other. WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart referred to this for the title of his autobiography Hitman: My Real Life In The Cartoon World Of Wrestling. Wrestlers are like comic book characters come to life, real superheroes who either fight for good or evil. They are people who we can live vicariously through and cheer or boo as we see fit. But for all the qualities the two share, wrestlers are not superheroes and certainly can't compete with their caped competition in the popularity department. Marvel's brand of superheroes are particularly popular, with their movies grossing billions of dollars at the box-office. WWE aren't doing too badly, by any stretch of the imagination, but the business is in something of a slump and while they are flagging Marvel are continuing to produce hit after hit after hit. So it stands to reason that, given the similarities between the two brands of entertainment, that WWE could maybe learn a thing or two from Marvel. Whether it has to do with character development, writing or public relations, WWE could improve many facets of its business. Marvel, as one of the biggest names in entertainment, could provide some much needed inspiration for Vince and co.
