Congratulations are in order for the WWE as they finally began to properly book their female talent at the same level as the men. Removing the label of “diva” and rebranding the title simply as the Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 32, the shift was completed by Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch, putting on a stellar match at the “Show of the Immortals.” The brand split dictated that several talents were drafted to the main roster from NXT in order to flesh out the new divisions. While Smackdown was forced to create a new championship for its brand, RAW drafted current title holder Charlotte to bring her championship to Monday nights.

Since the brand split in July, Charlotte and Sasha Banks have often found themselves at odds. Continuously battling over the RAW Women’s Championship, the duo has main evented several episodes of RAW as well as the Hell in a Cell PPV inside the titular structure. Their rivalry was excellent from an in ring perspective, there was however, one constant issue.

Since July, the Women’s title has changed hands a total of six times. The women fell into a pattern where Sasha would win the championship on RAW only to lose it back to Charlotte at the following pay-per-view. As a result, title changes became almost meaningless and the power of every win diluted by the back-and-forth booking of the rivals. Banks has accumulated three championship reigns yet has only held the title a combined seventy-four days. Why should fans care about a championship victory if the title in question has changed hands once a month since July?

At least it’s there is a simple solution to the problem at hand. Just let someone hold the title for more than a month; preferably more, but that would be a start.
