10 Things WWE Need To Bring Back
8. General Manager Mode (Current Gen Consoles)
This one isn't exactly at the whim of WWE per sé, but it falls under their umbrella so I'm including it. Being the ravenous, suit clad multimedia octopus that it is, WWE has dipped its fingers in a multitude of pies with video games becoming one of their most profitable outlets since the early 2000s. With countless titles under the WWE banner it should come as no surprise that there have been just as many peaks and valleys in terms of decision making in the digital world of wrestling as its real life counterpart.
“Universe Mode is not the same!” That is the defiant declaration avid WWE gamers have been sticking to since the popular General Manager mode was phased out in 2010.
Introduced in 2006, GM Mode let you take control of SmackDown or Raw (or even ECW later on) and do everything from choose your own draft picks to being in charge of every superstar's contractual finances. This superbly in-depth mode gave players the chance to do what every WWE fan wants to do at one point or another – to do it their way.
Hand pick the feuds and stress over if you can afford to put on a cage match this month while studying your opponents PPV cards devilishly planning a cunning trade where you can poach an upcoming star for a wrestler in decline, GM Mode was a game for brains in a sea of brawn.
With WWE’s recent brand split it is the perfect time for developers to reintroduce this forgotten gem and give fans the chance to blow their entire budget on locking The Undertaker down to a 5 year contract only to run out of money and have him feud with the likes of Viktor and Epico for months on end.
