10 Things WWE Need To Bring Back

3. The European Championship

WWE isn’t exactly suffering from a lack of championships at the moment, with there currently being nine active on the main roster. With this abundance of elaborate trouser supports anyone arguing for another to be added is usually greeted with the sly glances reserved for the crazy person wandering the aisle on the last train home.

The case for the European Championship in particular is always going to be a hard one. Unlike the fondly remembered Hardcore Championship, the European belt is lacking in memorable moments and cult status. There is, however a very strong argument to reintroduce the belt on a seasonal basis.

WWE have long enjoyed success in European territories, regularly touring and reaping the rewards of a frenzied fan base eager to enjoy the flavour of the most successful wrestling company on the planet. Sell out shows are common and even weekly flagship shows are now being broadcast from these European cities. Promoting the Championship as a Europe exclusive would allow an extra slice of intrigue to house shows and events, as the belt would only be defended in Europe and built up like big deal in promotional material. The champion would never carry the belt across the Atlantic, keeping this Championship a special attraction for that short leg of WWE annual travels.
