10 Things WWE Need To Bring Back

4. A Traditional Story Mode (WWE Video Games)

Here we are back on the consoles, lamenting about the good old days whilst wildly throwing barbs at WWE as the game developers hide in a big coat trying to pass themselves off as The Great Khali. At the risk of being too harsh on WWE's recent video game offerings, it should be stated that there have been a great deal of new and exciting elements introduced in recent years. We had WWE 13's great Attitude Era retrospective and a WrestleMania showcase the following year, but in the last couple of games, the career mode has left many fans feeling underwhelmed.

A slog of repetitive matches, a confusing ranking system, and lack of any storylines that progress any further than the odd piece of interference or run-in present a worrying lack of depth that is a crying shame when up against the ever improving graphics and gameplay.

As fans we all want to project ourselves into the larger than life world of pro-wrestling and work our way to the heights of holding the World Championship aloft at the climax of an epic WrestleMania. In the past, WWE’s games have scratched that itch allowing us to take a created superstar from rookie to sharing the ring with legends. We often got to choose branching paths and make moral choices, and all the while a goal was present.

This concise storytelling has seemingly been replaced by a repetitive ongoing system that offers very little charm or opportunity to inject your own emotions or wants on to proceedings. Give us an original story with multiple paths and we will replay for fun, instead of giving up less than half way up the rankings for the US Championship.
