10 Things WWE Raw Can Learn From No Mercy 2016
9. Admit Your Shortcomings
No Mercy opened with the main event, a weird move that could have backfired. However, it turned out to be a bit of a stroke of genius. They avoided having their biggest match compete with the US Presidential Debate and in doing so, opened the show on a high and allowed themselves to cover up what was essentially a bit of a weak finish.
Would Raw have done that? It’s impossible to say, but we are so used to hearing about Raw being the longest running and greatest TV show of all time that it’s hard to imagine it. There’s an arrogance to the way that Raw is presented, and it hurts the product.
By accepting that the presidential debate was too big a mountain for No Mercy to compete against SmackDown pulled off a minor victory. In the long run, it might not mean much, but it showed a willingness to bend to the circumstances. It’s a willingness that Raw could learn a lot from.
