10 Things WWE Regrets About SummerSlam

2. Being Committed To The Main Event (SummerSlam 1991)

The final shot of SummerSlam 1991 was the all-American babyface duo of Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior standing tall after defeating Sgt. Slaughter, Colonel Mustafa and General Adnan.

Behind the scenes, however, all wasn't quite as sunshine and rainbows as that shot would have you believe.

A month prior to SummerSlam, Warrior had sent Vince McMahon a letter in which he claimed he would no-show the PPV unless McMahon paid him an extra $500,000. Determined to keep his advertised main event in tact, Vince eventually agreed to pay this money to the Parts Unknown native - only to promptly suspend Warrior as soon as the SummerSlam match had concluded.

According to Sgt. Slaughter and Hulk Hogan, they'd offered to rough Warrior up for McMahon after hearing about this dollar-dollar demand from The Ultimate One. VKM declined these offers, as he instead relished the chance to get rid of the former WWE Champion.

Of course, this is just one of the many ups and downs of the tumultuous relationship that Vince McMahon and Ultimate Warrior had.
