10 Things WWE Did Right At SummerSlam

1. Brock Lesnar's WWE Title Win Was Unique And Perfect

The WWE Title match was an example of doing something out of the box and doing it perfectly. Within one minute Lesnar hit the F5 and Cena kicked out of it. Imagine if they ended it like that? It would have been amazing although fans might have been upset because they wanted to see a longer match. A longer match is what we got as Lesnar unleashed a beating on Cena unlike anything we had ever seen before. The match was 95% offense by Lesnar. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment at one point as well as the STF submission hold, but Lesnar wasn't going to be put away that easily. There was a tremendous moment in the match when Lesnar was laying on his back after selling an offensive flurry from Cena. Then he just sat up Undertaker style, then stared at Cena and laughed at him. It was great live and it was even better when they replayed it. http://33.media.tumblr.com/5a48725a7cc035e87306f64099e777c4/tumblr_nahjsq7iE01r9uyuvo2_250.gif If there's a gripe with the match it's that Lesnar probably should have varied his offense a bit more. He did 16 German Suplexes in the match. It's an impressive move that looks devastating especially when Cena looked to have landed hard on his neck a few times, but he could have done more. What happened to the Kimura Lock he used to do? That would have been nice as a false finish although maybe WWE didn't want to do something like that. When he hit that final F5 and Cena didn't kick out it was an emphatic ending to a dominant performance. When I discussed this match with WhatCulture.com Editor Matt Holmes the first thing he said to me was that it was exactly the kind of finish they should have done at Extreme Rules over two years ago when Lesnar returned to WWE. He's right. If they did that they would have made Lesnar look like a monster right out of the gate. Instead, he lost to Cena, then he beat Triple H and lost in a rematch to him. It was silly. At least they figured it out now. Lesnar's booked for Night of Champions in September, so we'll probably get a rematch with him and Cena since former champions usually get a rematch. That one might have a stipulation on it. Lesnar's probably going to win again and after that we may not see him for a few months. Nobody knows how it's going to work, but things have definitely been shaken up now that Lesnar is the new WWE Champion. The best thing we can say about Lesnar/Cena at SummerSlam was that it's a match we're never going to forget because we have never seen anything like it. Kudos to both guys for delivering that memory that will last a lifetime.
