When Dolph Ziggler faced The Miz in the opening match in the PPV portion of SummerSlam, the popular thinking was that Miz would retain since his "Hollywood" gimmick is still relatively fresh. He hasn't been the IC Champ for that long, so if they really wanted to get the gimmick over it would have made sense to keep the title on him. Instead, he lost clean to Ziggler. It was interesting that Ziggler kicked out of Skull Crushing Finale of The Miz because you don't see that often in opening matches. By doing that it made Ziggler look strong, though, so it's not something that we should be complaining about. Ziggler has been booked so poorly for so long that anything that is done in a positive light for him is a good thing. Now that Ziggler has some purpose, here's hoping that he can make the IC Title matter again as the "wrestler's title." It used to be the piece of gold that had the best matches, the most televised title matches and a lot of great moments too. With Ziggler in that spot as a babyface fighting champion, perhaps the IC Title will feel prestigious again. As for Miz, he can be an upper midcard heel without a title in his hands and do well at it. He'll be just fine. It was more important that Ziggler win this to re-establish him as a talented wrestler than it was for Miz to retain to continue his Hollywood gimmick.
