10. He Wrestled As Alberto Banderas And Many Other Names Before His Televised Debut
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anjkyqcJJow When WWE signed Del Rio he was already an accomplished wrestler in Mexico with a decade of experience under his belt. There were reports that said he wasn't going to report to Florida Championship Wrestling like others, but it ended up happening anyway. This was likely because WWE wanted to get him used to the American style of wrestling, which is vastly different from lucha libre. As is often the case, he went through a few different names in developmental. He wrestled as Alberto Banderas (a fan of Antonio Banderas perhaps?), Dos (his name is Mexico was Dos Caras Jr.), Dorado, El Dorada, and Dos Caras. When he made it to the main roster they settled on Alberto Del Rio.v Here's how he explained his time in FCW to
Slam Wrestling after he was on the main roster:
"I understand that WWE, it's like the NFL or NBA of wrestling, so if you really want to be here, you have to go through all those steps to go to the top. I knew that the company knew I am a wrestler with experience. They have to try me. They wanted to see if I'm going to be able to handle the pressure and that's the reason they put me in all those dark matches and all those house shows before they put me on TV. I was OK because all the time I knew at some point I'm going to be where I am right now"
He made a huge impact right away as Del Rio, and it's hard to think of him wrestling with any other name in WWE, but Antonio Banderas nearly happened.
