10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Booker T

2. That Dreadful Raw Match With Buff Bagwell That Really Hurt WCW

WWE.comWWE.comIt's one of the most infamous matches in wrestling history. The date was July 2, 2001 and it was the main event of Raw in Tacoma, Washington that night. It was the first time that Raw became Nitro as the WCW World Champion Booker T faced off with Buff Bagwell. There was a major problem with it: the crowd absolutely hated it. They completely crapped on the idea that a WCW match was going to main event Raw that night that they just didn't care. What also hurt the match was that Bagwell sucked. He's always been a guy that thought he was better than he really was and he showed that when he was on the big stage at Raw he couldn't get the job done. The match ended after about five minutes when Steve Austin and Kurt Angle showed up to toss Booker out of the building. Then they tossed Bagwell out too. At least Booker was brought back. Bagwell was gone from WWE forever after that. Looking back on it, Booker probably should have received some blame for it, but it was mostly Bagwell that took the heat for it. Booker ended up main eventing SummerSlam with The Rock less than two months after this. Even though things did work out for Booker, this WCW match on Raw with Bagwell is definitely something WWE wants us to forget.
