10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Benoit

2. He Won The 2004 Royal Rumble

When WWE tells the story of the Royal Rumble match every year, they always leave out Chris Benoit's tremendous performance in 2004. Benoit started the match at #1 with Randy Orton at #2 and he lasted over an hour on his way to winning the match by last eliminating Big Show with an impressive headlock where he dragged Show over the top rope for the win. Benoit using all of his strength to get rid of Show was a fantastic visual. He literally pulled him out of the ring using all of his strength and the crowd went wild for him. It was a match dominated by Benoit. He was in there the longest for 61:30 with only Rey Mysterio's performance in 2006 topping it when Rey went 62:12 as the number two man when he won. Benoit also had the most eliminations with six. http://youtu.be/u-EgpAD5qdA The 2004 Rumble was a match booked with the idea of putting over Benoit huge from start to finish in order to build him us as a bigger star. It worked.
