10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Benoit

1. He Won The World Title In The WrestleMania 20 Main Event

The tagline for WrestleMania 20 was "Where it all begins...again." It was WWE's way of saying they were back in New York City where the first WrestleMania took place and it was their way of being nostalgic about the big even. In the main event, Triple H was the dominant heel World Heavyweight Champion that was set to defend the title in a triple threat match against his long time rival Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit, who had won the Royal Rumble. It was the first time in WrestleMania history that a triple threat match headlined a WrestleMania. They had a phenomenal match. It's one of the best main events in WrestleMania history with a lot of drama and a hot ending as Benoit made Triple H tap out in the center of the ring. Madison Square Garden erupted in cheers when Benoit held up the WWE World Title for the first time in WWE. It was a storybook ending for a guy that had been in the business for 18 years and worked hard to get where he was. Post match, Eddie Guerrero showed up for a post match hug since he was one of Benoit's best friends and also the WWE Champion at the time. As confetti filled the ring, the two men embraced in what was a very memorable ending. Benoit's wife and son were also there too, which is too sad to even think about today. If you go to WWE.com you won't see photos of this. Their gallery ends with the Undertaker's match against Kane. It is on WWE Network unedited, but it's not like WWE is ever going to promote the main event or even mention it. There are a lot of things about Benoit that WWE wants you to forget and with good reason, but nothing is more forgettable than his WrestleMania main event victory.
