10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About CM Punk

4. He Hit A Fan In The Crowd During Raw

It was October 8, 2012 and CM Punk was a heel in the midst of his epic 434 days as WWE Champion. He wrestled in the main event of Raw that night against Vince McMahon. You may have heard of him. Punk nearly finished off McMahon when Ryback showed up. This was when he was getting pushed hard as a babyface. Fans loved seeing Ryback and he cleared Punk out of the ring. Punk left the ring and went into the crowd as McMahon told him that he had to face either Ryback or Cena at Hell in a Cell. It ended up being Ryback. The incident in question happened as Punk found a safe place in the crowd as he held the WWE Championship in his arms. McMahon was talking about the Hell in a Cell match when suddenly Punk threw a back elbow at a fan. Since Punk was right there with the fans, somebody must have pushed him at some point. It's hard to know exactly where it came from, but after another push Punk decided to strike back. He his back elbow connected on the face of the fan and then he shoved him down. Just from watching that fan, you could tell he didn't do it. Somebody behind him must have pushed him. Even though they didn't address it on television, they did mention it on WWE.com. Here's what Punk said about it: "Somebody said, 'let's push him down the stairs. I got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched...Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I'm really just glad nobody was hurt." The fan that was hit by Punk didn't take any legal action in the matter. It was still a bad situation that could have been a lot worse.
