10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Dolph Ziggler

1. His Two World Title Reigns Were Awful

When Dolph Zigger is introduced by listing off his credentials, the phrase "former two time World Heavyweight Champion" should be used. However, when discussing his two title reigns it should be noted that he's had two of the worst major title runs ever. Ziggler's first World Title "win" happened on the February 18, 2011 edition of Smackdown. His on screen girlfriend Vickie Guerrero was the acting Smackdown GM since Teddy Long was injured and she ended up stripping World Champ Edge (who was a babyface) of the title because he used the Spear, which she banned. Because of that, she named Ziggler the new World Champion. Long showed up during Ziggler's coronation, said that he had to defend the title against Edge (Vickie had fired him) and Edge ended up beating Ziggler to win the title back. Ziggler's first World Title reign lasted 11 minutes and 23 seconds officially. Ziggler was fired from the Smackdown brand and debuted on Raw a few weeks later. His second World Title reign started with a memorable moment on the Raw after WrestleMania 29 when he cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase on Alberto Del Rio. Even though he was a heel, the fans popped huge for it. One month after his win, he suffered a concussion during a match. He missed most of the month of May including a scheduled World Title defense against Del Rio and Jack Swagger at Extreme Rules 2013. When he faced Del Rio at the June 2013 Payback PPV, most assumed he would win. Instead, the legitimate concussion was used in the storyline and Del Rio ended up winning the World Title back. Ziggler went face, Del Rio went heel and when he tried to get the title back, Ziggler lost again at Money in the Bank 2013. The story should have seen Ziggler get it back at some point. Instead, he was out of the title picture and at a low point in his carer. Ziggler's had two World Title reigns with zero successful title defenses. He's made history in that regard. It's not the kind of history that he wants us to remember and neither does WWE. He is proof that getting to the top is hard, but staying there is even harder. --------- That's it for this week's things WWE wants us to forget series.
