10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Dolph Ziggler

10. He Wrestled "The Natural" Nic Nemeth In Developmental And "Nick Metro" Too

http://youtu.be/tLN_sLLsMUE Following his run with the Spirit Squad that ended in late 2006 (we'll get to that later), he was sent back down to developmental at Ohio Valley Wrestling, which turned into Florida Championship Wrestling in September 2007. He spent the next 18 months there trying different things. If you look at results from those shows in 2007-08 you can see how much talent was there at the time while also realizing that a lot of those guys he was working with in OVW and FCW never made it to the main roster. Ziggler ended up using his real name Nick Nemeth as his wrestling name for a while. They also gave him the nickname of "The Natural" because he's such an athletic guy that looks like he was born to be a wrestler. It's the same nickname Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) used in the early 1990s. He even went through a bit of a name change as "Nic Nemeth" instead of Nick. The reason for "Nic" part instead of the proper spelling of Nick that he usually went by was because it was supposed to be like Ric Flair. It's really Richard or Rick for him, but as a wrestler he went by Ric to stand out from the pack. In Nemeth's case, he went by Nic to try to establish that as his name. There was even a Raw dark match against R-Truth in May 2008 where he wrestled as "Nick Metro" although records show it only happened once. When he returned to the main roster his name became Dolph Ziggler while Nic without the "K" never made it onto WWE television.
