10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About John Bradshaw Layfield

10. That Awful Shawn Michaels Storyline

Shawn Michaels feuded with JBL towards the end of 2008 and into 2009. It was right after Shawn's amazing feud with Chris Jericho in 2008. JBL was in the tail end of his career with nothing really going on for him. They ended up in a storyline where Michaels lost all of his personal savings due to the global financial crisis and he had to work for JBL because JBL was rich. He needed the money. It was such a ridiculous angle that lasted for several months. While it is possible that a multi-millionaire like Michaels could have lost his money, it was stupid as a wrestling angle. Perhaps it was WWE's way of thinking that it was a realistic storyline that they could go with that people would relate to. Of course what WWE failed to realize is the average fan is not some multi-millionaire wrestler that blew his money. They ended up resolving the issue when HBK beat JBL clean in a match at No Way Out 2009 that apparently solved all of HBK's money problems because he didn't have to work for JBL anymore. Apparently JBL paid him everything that was owed to him, so suddenly all of his money issues were solved. That's weird. The storyline with HBK and JBL was so bad that they actually tried to do something similar with Big Show and Triple H/Stephanie last year too, which was also terrible. WWE wants us to forget about this feud because of how silly it was. Or maybe we just want to forget it for those reasons.
