10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Lita

8. She Went On A Date With Dean Malenko & Beat Him In A Match

They love doing "odd couple" stories in WWE, don't they? In late 2000, Lita was part of Team Extreme with the Hardy Boys, and was known for being very energetic and having fun. Dean Malenko was more of a classic pro wrestler, relying on holds and suplexes, rather than charisma. That led to WWE developing a storyline where Malenko was infatuated with Lita and wanted to take her out on a date. This being professional wrestling, Lita and Malenko's date was decided in a match, which Lita lost. Cue some poorly acted scenes in the locker room, a restaurant and, eventually, hotel. Once in the room, Lita got down to her unmentionables, but it didn't end in happiness for Dean 'The Machine', since he was ambushed by the Hardys and left beaten to a pulp. The feud continued and on the February 19, 2001 edition of Raw, Lita faced Malenko again, and this time she was able to win the match thanks to Matt and Jeff Hardy's help. There aren't too many women in WWE history that beat a male wrestler, but Lita was one of them. These days they would never book a male vs. female match because it doesn't really fit their PG rules and they tend to steer clear of the whole domestic violence thing. But back in the early 2000s, Lita was there being locked in a Texas Cloverleaf by a big, burly dude.
