10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Mick Foley

4. WrestleMania 2000 Main Event Was Going To Include Chris Jericho Not Him

The main event of WWE's No Way Out PPV in February 2000 saw Foley lose a career ending match (as Cactus Jack) to Triple H. It meant that he was done wrestling forever...or at least for a while. Instead, Foley was back in the ring as "Mick Foley" five weeks later in the main event of WrestleMania 2000 (or 16). He didn't push for it. He was asked, so he said yes because the money was great and it would be stupid for somebody to turn it down. Maybe some fans were mad at him for un-retiring so quickly, but if you were in that spot with a family to feed you'd probably do it too.
What was so interesting about it is that Chris Jericho was actually advertised for the four way main event with Triple H, The Rock and Big Show, but that got changed. The thinking behind it was that there would be a McMahon in every wrestler's corner. Foley was representing Linda McMahon. It ended up coming down The Rock and Triple H in the end anyway as it should have been. That WrestleMania match was the last one Foley had at least for a few years. It was the end of his career as a full timer.
