10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Miz

4. People Laughed When He Was The NXT Pro For Daniel Bryan

When NXT debuted in early 2010, one of the concepts of the show was that WWE veterans would serve as the "pro" or mentor of the "rookies" that WWE fans really didn't know about. The idea was that the pro would help the rookie become a WWE superstar. The pairing that got the most attention was The Miz being paired with Daniel Bryan. Fans online were shocked because Bryan had about 10 years of wrestling experience at that point in his career while Miz had only been wrestling for about four years at that point. While Miz did have a strong personality, it was comical that he could teach Bryan anything. Since Bryan is a really nice guy, it's no surprise that he didn't really have a problem with the pairing. This is from a Bryan interview with Slam Wrestling in January 2011: "I was actually hoping for a little bit of mentoring from him. People might be shocked by that, but my weaknesses are his strengths and his weaknesses are my strengths. My weakness has always been that you don€™t look at me and say, €˜Oh that guy€™s a WWE superstar,€™ whereas The Miz carries himself like a superstar and he believes he€™s a superstar, whereas I don€™t think I€™m better than my neighbour." As their careers progressed, Bryan feuded with Miz a bit and clearly outperformed him in every respect. Bryan's only been in WWE for about four years. There's no question that he's the better all around performer of the two. You won't hear WWE mention that The Miz was Bryan's mentor because it would hurt Bryan at this point in his career since he's surpassed Miz. That's why it's something WWE wants you to forget.
