10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rey Mysterio

2. He Has Violated WWE's Wellness Program Two Times

The perception of Rey Mysterio on WWE television is that of an excitable smaller wrestler that the fans love because they marvel at how athletic he is. He's not somebody that fans think of as a steroid type of wrestler. He's billed at 5'6" on WWE.com, but he's probably shorter than that. He weighs around 175 pounds. If you saw Rey pre-WWE then you can obviously see that he added more bulk when he got to WWE. Whether it was enhanced by steroids or something else, we don't know exactly. It's clear that he added more bulk to his body. There are also failed drug tests to back it up. Mysterio has been suspended twice for violation of WWE's Talent Wellness Program. The first time was on August 2, 2009. Shortly after the 30 day suspension, Mysterio explained it by saying the drugs were subscription pills for his knee and arm. They do allow prescribed drugs, but he wasn't able to provide enough proof because he claimed he was promoting SummerSlam in Europe at the time. Rey's second WWE suspension was on April 26, 2012 because of another violation, which meant a 60 day suspension. Mysterio claimed that it was only a dietary supplement and he wasn't sure how he could have tested positive. Mysterio's name was also on a list obtained by Sports Illustrated in 2006 that listed athletes that stated Mysterio was using nandrolone and stanozolol, which were forms of steroids. He wasn't suspended because WWE said it was before the Wellness Program was in place. If Mysterio fails a third drug test he would be fired. That would allow him to make some more history although it's not the kind of history anybody wants to be known for.
