10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Ric Flair

1. He Wrestled After His Much Publicized 2008 Retirement In WWE

When Ric Flair retired after losing a good match to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24 in 2008 ("I'm sorry...I love you"), it was treated like a big deal. Flair had been a part of many retirement matches in his career too, most notably losing to Hulk Hogan at WCW's Halloween Havoc 1994 and then returning a few months later dressed like a woman. His WWE retirement seemed to be legit. It was a huge selling point of WrestleMania and then the next night on Raw they did an awesome tribute to Flair as well. What WWE doesn't want you to know is that Flair continued to wrestle after his WWE days were over in June 2009 when his contract expired. Why would Flair continue to wrestle even after his much publicized retirement with WWE? He needed the money. That's always been the thing with Flair. Since WWE wasn't going to pay him to be full time anymore, he needed to get it elsewhere and he knew that his name had enough value that others would be willing to pay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABKY8Tkcg6Y Flair ended up doing a tour with a group put together by Hulk Hogan in 2009 and then in 2010 he ended up in TNA Wrestling. He didn't wrestle for them right away, but eventually he got into the ring. During his two and a half years in TNA, Flair wrestled younger talent like Jay Lethal while also battling with old rivals like Mick Foley and even Sting. He wasn't really happy in TNA, but they paid him well. To this day, Flair continues to make appearances for independent wrestling companies and he does signings all over the world too. Flair is back in the WWE family making appearances whenever WWE needs him to (like at Monday's Raw) and supporting his daughter Charlotte as she continues to impress on NXT. Flair has taken all the bumps he needs to in his life. It's time enjoy his life with his family.
