10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Rock

9. The Iron Sheik Used The Word Jabroni Long Before Him

The Rock's popularity grew in large part because of his creativity on the microphone. However, some of the things he said weren't that original. Things like "laying the smackdown" led to the Smackdown name on WWE's television. Another famous line "it doesn't matter what your name is" became one of his best insults, but those aren't the most popular Rock-isms. The word that always stood out for him was calling somebody a "jabroni," which was a term used in a derogatory way. It's basically another word for calling somebody a loser or an idiot, but it comes from the wrestling business. The origins come from the word jobber, which is used to describe a guy that loses a quick wrestling match. What a lot of people don't know is that WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik came up with jabroni and The Rock got it from him. Sheik has known Rock all his life because he wrestled Rock's grandfather and father. In a 2014 documentary about The Iron Sheik's life called "The Sheik" there were comments from The Rock where he admitted that he got jabroni from him. The Iron Sheik was happy that he was using it because he always respected The Rock. It was cool to hear him acknowledge the legend like that. If you watch WWE programming you would think that The Rock came up with the term jabroni, but it was really The Iron Sheik that did it.
