10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Scott Hall

10. He Pitched The Razor Ramon Character As A Joke

The character of Razor Ramon was original in the world of pro wrestling in that it wasn't based off another wrestler. However, it was based on a very popular movie character named Tony Montana from the 1983 film Scarface. It's a film based off a Cuban drug lord in Miami who becomes very powerful after starting at the bottom. In the movie Scarface, Tony has a distinctive loo to him similar to the Ramon character and he would refer to himself as the "bad guy" in an over the top way. That's what Ramon did. He added in things like the toothpick, the accent when he spoke and the gold chains. Over the years, Hall has told the story that when he was signed by WWE he pitched the Razor Ramon character to Vince McMahon & Pat Patterson as a joke. Apparently Vince and Pat had never seen or heard of Scarface, so to them it was as if it was this completely new character. They even went as far as calling him a "creative genius" for coming up with the character. Hall deserves a lot of credit for using the gimmick and making it his own thing. It's probably a good thing that Vince & Pat weren't huge movie fans either.
