10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Scott Hall

9. He Only Won IC Title In October 1996 Because Shawn Michaels Got Beat Up

The Kliq was always there for each other. They were always about look out for one another no matter what they had to do or who they had to step on to get what they wanted. In late 1995, Hall benefited from an injury to a fellow Kliq member Shawn Michaels. At the 4th In Your House event in October of 1995, the scheduled match was Shawn Michaels defending the IC Title against Dean Douglas. Michaels was beat up at a Syracuse night club a week earlier and wasn't able to compete. Douglas was awarded the IC Title. He was also forced to have a match with Razor Ramon immediately, which led to Ramon winning the IC Title for a fourth time in a match that went about ten minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx6NVwXU5N8 There are plenty of stories about why the title change happened, but what's believed to be true is that Michaels and Ramon had the booking changed so that Douglas wouldn't leave with the title. Michaels was likely going to go over Douglas, but since he was unable to wrestle they chose to move the title onto his buddy Razor. While Hall likely wasn't happy that his buddy Michaels was beat up, in a weird way he should thank him for getting hurt because that's what led to Hall's unexpected fourth reign as the Intercontinental Champion.
