10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Scott Hall

7. He Left In A Disrespectful Way Due To The Infamous "Curtain Call"

Hug Msg Incident Hall was working his last show before jumping to WCW on May 19, 1996 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. He took part in a moment that a lot of fans know about now, but it's not something WWE wants to put over as a great moment in the career of any of the men involved. Following the main event with Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash (as Diesel), Hall went into the ring with Triple H and together the four men that were a part of "The Kliq" had a group hug in the center of the ring that became known as "The MSG Incident" because that's where it took place. The move infuriated WWE management because they broke kayfabe (heels hugging faces and vice versa) at a time when that kind of thing never happened. Hall didn't face any punishment for the moment because he had already signed with WCW. His buddy Triple H ended up getting punished by losing out on his King of the Ring victory (it went to Steve Austin instead) while Michaels was untouchable because he was the WWE Champion. For somebody that said they respected the business a lot, it was not a classy way for Hall to leave WWE. They're the company that helped build his name up and without him there wasn't going to be a huge deal with WCW. It's another thing that fans know about, but WWE likes to keep it quiet because it wasn't a planned part of a show that is a career highlight of any of the men involved.
