6. His 2002 Feud With Eddie Guerrero Didn't Go Anywhere
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egGY8TxthLY Austin wasn't a happy camper in 2002, which we'll detail a bit more later. Part of the reason was because he really didn't like the creative direction of the company. He was the top heel in WWE through most of 2001, then they turned him back into a babyface towards the end of the year and aside from the whole "what" thing they didn't really do a whole lot with him. It seems preposterous that they didn't have a bigger role for Austin considering he was the biggest star in the company for the previous five years. His displeasure started to become a public thing in early 2002 and it wasn't part of a storyline. WWE brought back Eddie Guerrero, who was fired a year earlier due to his personal issues, in the spring of 2002 and put him in a feud with RVD immediately. Once that was over, they moved Guerrero into a program with Austin as a way to make Austin happy because Guerrero was known as one of the best workers in the business. Their feud even involved a skit in a bar because Austin was known as a drinker while Guerrero had well known alcohol problems. It led to a bar fight angle (Guerrero knocked him out by attacking him with a bottle) that was supposed to lead to a match, but that never took place because Austin left. Imagine how good an Austin/Guerrero feud could have been? Eddie would have been the heel in the feud with Austin as the face. Since Eddie was so great as a sneaky kind of heel, they could have done a lot of old school tricks to make it work. There was a match between them in November of 2000, but the 2002 story was supposed to lead to more and it never happened.
