10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About 2023

3. The Women's World Tag Team Title Scene

The Women's World Tag Team titles have never once developed an aura of prestige. Creative cares nothing for them, and this attitude filters down to the fandom. They simply exist.

While Chelsea Green is an entertaining act with an excellent grasp of her lightweight material, her Honky Tonk Man-adjacent run with the titles is a vehicle for her character. This development is far more interesting than watching a pair of babyfaces suddenly become best friends ecstatic to be in one another's presence, but it will further stigmatise the titles as a joke. That's not really a fair point; the rot set in a long, long time ago. At least Chelsea and Piper Niven offer a different dynamic than Rodriguez, who has more random mates than 90% of the AEW roster.

Has WWE ever promoted one memorably great match for the belts?

There's an easy solution to this; WWE should permanently transfer the titles to NXT, which promotes more women's wrestling than either main roster brand.

Parity and representation are good things, but the belts are a hollow exercise in optics that drastically undermine the point WWE is pretending to make.
