Whisper it now.

Few who witnessed it at the time will ever forget Aleister Black's fiery feud with Velveteen Dream on NXT in 2017. Indeed, their match a TakeOver: War Games that November was one of the best WWE put on all year (across any brand). It should've been a landmark moment both could look back on for years to come.

WWE won't celebrate 2017's cracker though. In fact, they won't want to acknowledge either man at all now they're both outside the promotion - Dream's horrendous controversies away from the ring and Black's subsequent appearance in AEW mean that this rivalry will be off the table whenever the company revisits NXT's best moments in the future.

There's something sad about that, but it's more understandable in the case of Velveteen. What should've been a launching point for two young lions will forever be smeared by regrettable behaviour from one man and false dawns for the other.

What might've been, eh?
