10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Braun Strowman

3. That Entire Shane McMahon Angle

Where's Dave Benson Phillips when you need him?

The excitable UK TV host, who encouraged kids to 'Get Your Own Back' during the 90s, would've been proud of WWE's angle on the 15 March 2021 Raw. Shane McMahon humiliated his "stupid" foe Braun by covering him in buckets of green slime and slipping around all over the place.

That storyline wrinkle furthered Shane's claims that Strowman was a dunce who failed every subject at school and was ridiculed for it. Bizarrely, Braun (who had been presented as a fire-breathing nightmare for years) then went on live television and revealed that he'd been bullied for his appearance since youth.

What?! No! This idea went against years of company booking, made Braun look meek and didn't do much to sell interest in an upcoming WrestleMania 37 cage match anyway. The sliming angle was bad enough, but all that "stupid" chat and Braun acting like a submissive dork was too far.
