10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bray Wyatt
3. The Debut Of The Bray Wyatt Gimmick
Bray Wyatt's an oddity in the PG era. It's unusual to see such an openly dark and sadistic character mingling with the rest of the heel rocker loom, mainly comprised lumbering monsters and cowardly Seth Rollins-types. Wyatt is unashamedly portrayed as an evil man who wants to hurt people, and WWE's way of broadcasting this in today's climate is by keeping his motives very vague.
He's the 'Eater of Worlds' and tells people to 'Follow the Buzzards', but the actual consequences of his evil plans are kept very vague. Only recently, with the abductions of Kane and Undertaker, has Wyatt threatened to stray into seriously dark territory. However, the FCW debut of the persona saw a far more explicitly evil character.
His introductory promo, conducted next to a hulking Eli Cottonwood, saw Bray essentially confess to burning his father alive. It still stands as a great promo, but one entirely at odds with the current WWE landscape.
